Technology
Sol Agora, part of the Descarbonize Soluções group, is a fully digital fintech focused on financing photovoltaic systems for residential and small- and medium-business customers. In under three years, Sol Agora crossed R$ 1.8 billion in financing issued, running a lean operation with more than 50 partner distributors across Brazil.
The challenge
Financing solar systems at national scale requires a platform that connects three very different audiences: the end customer (who wants clarity and speed on the proposal), the partner installer (who needs to register projects and track the approval pipeline), and Sol Agora’s back office (which runs credit analysis, manages contracts, releases payments, and monitors the portfolio). All integrated, auditable, and ready to scale as the operation grew.
Sol Agora needed to ship an MVP to production quickly to validate assumptions and start operating, then migrate to a more robust architecture capable of handling the volume that was coming.
What we delivered
Phase 1 (MVP in PHP + Vue.js, greenfield): we built and operated the first full version of the Sol Agora platform from scratch. Partner installer onboarding, project and financing proposal creation, the full approval flow through contract payment, portfolio back office, and the public site. The MVP took about three to four months of development and testing, and carried the operation in production for roughly six months while the final platform was being designed.
Phase 2 (final platform in C#/.NET + React): with the target architecture designed by Sol Agora’s internal IT team, we moved to a full rewrite on a more robust and scalable stack. In this phase, we worked embedded in Sol Agora’s development ecosystem, in mixed-composition teams with client staff and other consultancies, covering nearly every domain of the platform (origination, analysis, contracts, payments, integrations, back office), except DevOps, which was another team’s responsibility. High-level planning stayed with Sol Agora’s core team; granular planning and execution were distributed across the teams.
Team and technology
- MVP: dedicated Overdrive allocation, full operational responsibility (development, infrastructure, and ongoing support).
- Final platform: embedded work in mixed-composition teams, with involvement across nearly every module of the platform.
- Stack: PHP, Vue.js (MVP); C#/.NET, React (final platform).
Result
The MVP did its job of getting Sol Agora into operation quickly and carried the company through its first months in production. The final platform, which we contributed to for roughly two years alongside the internal team and other consultancies, is the foundation Sol Agora grew on to reach its current public scale: more than R$ 1.8 billion in financing issued and a portfolio of 50+ partner distributors across Brazil.
Relationship context
Our engagement with Sol Agora ran from late 2022 through December 2024, when the contracting model was restructured and the partnership ended.
